From WITPG Newsletter No. 3:

Lottery funding

We are presently applying for Lottery funding under the Awards For All scheme. This will enable us to purchase equipment that we believe is necessary for our fight to preserve our transport heritage.

The type of equipment we are hoping to obtain includes: voice recording equipment; a computer with a CD writer, so we can put individual photo collections under one roof; a digital camera; a video camera; and an episcope, which projects onto a screen photographs, newspaper cuttings and those unusual, rare or otherwise interesting pictures that are not available on slides. Mainland groups usually refer to this machine as the ‘photo-toaster’.

From WITPG Newsletter No. 5 (September 2002):

Lottery funding

The WITPG have been awarded £4,200 Lottery funding under the Awards For All scheme. This is fantastic news and has enabled the group to purchase recording equipment that will be used to record the transport history of our islands. Our Treasurer, John Angus MacLeod, has to be congratulated for all his hard work, which has enabled the group to receive this award. Also a big thank you to Hugh MacInnes, Cuan Ard Press, Lionel, Ness.

Following a recent application to Awards For All for the purchase of garage equipment and tools, we are pleased to report that this has also been successful and that a grant of £4,995 was received in December 2005.

This grant will enable WITPG to carry out renovations and repairs to the vehicles and plant we are striving to preserve as key examples of our transport heritage.

The items we have been able to purchase, include:
  10 Ton Trolley Jack
2 Pairs 10 Ton Axle Stands
Compressor with Air Hose & Regulator
  MIG Welder
  Air Sander with Air Extractor
  3/4 Drive Air Wrench
  1/2 & 3/4 Drive Sockets Sets

WITPG is extremely grateful to Awards For All for its generous support
